I honestly don’t know how to feel about this…
One one hand, I am saying no, this is wrong, drug addicts are people too and deserve the right to reproduce. Also, a lot of drug addicts can change, it’s difficult, but they have the ability to change.
On the other hand, this would cut down drug addicted births, probably abortions, probably premature or still born births, and also would reduce the amount of babies in care which cannot be found homes.
I think the former is more how I feel, but I can definitely see the appeal of it due to the latter.
But why not spend the $300 helping to put them through a rehab programme? Why not give them the option?
Because you cannot go through a rehab program for even close to $300. For those who don’t know how much rehab centers cost, without insurance or other government or charitable programs, it can range anywhere from approximately $5,000 for a week long drug detox program to anywhere up to $100,000 a month for the best program.
